FEBRUARY 18, 2013

My first signing! Chapters!! I shop in Chapters. I probably make a significant contribution to their bottom line. I definitely know that purchases made there affect my bottom line!

The signing was on February 14. When I arrived, my table featured a brand new red plastic tablecloth with outlines of white hearts. The white milk-glass vase held a particularly robust red rose. But, most importantly, there were two stacks of Wife Seller! prominently displayed for all to see.

Friends made it a point to visit. Family dropped in. Someone took a business card. The card gave such particulars as my name, the information that I was an author, and my website address. A short distance away (our tables flanked the entrance to the children’s section) was a fellow romance author, Cheryl Bruder - Cheryl is a pro at signings and a generous in sharing her tips on how to market books. Thanks, Cheryl!

The profit margin was miniscule. The exposure was great! Did I mention that there were four authors? The other two were selling cookbooks – complete with samples. A quick trip to the Starbucks attached to Chapters, a small detour past their tables for chat and samples made the four hours fly.
