THE FIRST READING

Date:  May 2

Location:  Acton Public Library

Time: 7 p.m.

But we (author Maggie Petru and friend, Sun Dragon Press publisher Marilyn Kleiber and I) arrived in good time to set up our visual aids and, of course, our books!

The number of attendees, somewhat short of a horde, seemed eager for the entertainment to begin. They appeared to enjoy their journeys back to 1875 small town Ontario, and 1950s ditto. The location of these stories just happens to be the same.

The library staff was both helpful and attentive. The friends/fellow author(s), ditto. Sales were brisk. We must have done a sterling job of reading, as 50% of the audience rushed to purchase both books.

It provided hope, enthusiasm and impetus for our second reading, which will be in the main branch of the Guelph Public Library on June 13.

By the way, did I mention that 4 people attended the reading?

Lavinia

"With equal measures of humour and heart, Marilyn Temmer skilfully writes a world from a bygone era. Her characters spring from the page and make us long for a simpler time when dancing meant a waltz." Terry Fallis

Lavinia and her two sisters have changed their names and left their home town in an effort to escape the clutches of their guardian's brother, Cyrus.

Sam Blake recognizes "his lady" at first sight. But he has no idea that the Spencer sisters are independent, business-owning, bicycle-riding modern women.

See what happens when Sam dons sword and shield and endeavors to save his lady from certain ruin.
